Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that his side will try to break triple figures of Premier League points (100) with a win against Southampton in their last English Premier League game on Sunday.
Guardiola’s side have already set a new record for the most points garnered in a season (97) and most goals scored (105).
“We will try to win the game. That is no doubt about that, we have done that all season. We will try to win. These last weeks, these numbers helped us to be focused and we are going to the same on Sunday,” Guardiola said during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Guardiola also dispelled reports linking Sergio Aguero with a return to Atletico Madrid this summer.
Aguero bagged 30 goals as City clinched the English Premier League title and lifted the Carabao Cup.
“I think it’s not going to happen, my desire is it will not happen,” the former Barcelona manager said.
“The club chairman and I want him (Aguero) to stay a long time and to renew his contract – but we are going on holiday in a few days.”
Aguero is currently recuperating from a knee injury but is expected to be fit to lead Argentina’s attack at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia
Guardiola also ruled out a wholesome change to his squad this summer.
“Not too much. Maybe some players are unhappy and want to leave because they don’t play too much. We made a high investment last season and we did it,” he added.
“Now we will make some changes with Yaya leaving. One maybe two, I don’t know.”
